Helping Hands

Right now, no one knows how to define normal. This time 3 months ago, we had no idea as a nation that everything was about to change. We are still learning how to navigate this new reality. Life is not as simple as it use to be with being able to go out for a meal, go see a movie, or go shopping. We have seen businesses suffer from this. Maybe none have been hurt more than small, local businesses.

Many small businesses will not be able to reopen and this pandemic will close them down for good. We feel though that we can all do little things to keep that from happening. For example, if you and your family are getting takeout, eat local. Instead of spending your money on a major chain, you can play a part in helping that local restaurant stay open.

One way here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives that we decided to help out was partnering with the local Humane Society. We decided to foster a dog, Monkey. She can be seen on our company Facebook and Instagram pages. The Humane Society found themselves needing fosters to help with the shortage of volunteers and employees during this time. By fostering, Monkey was able to have all the loving and food she could possibly want while waiting to be adopted. We enjoyed a week with her until she found her forever home and was adopted by a nice family.

We love partnering with fellow local businesses. It has been because of our amazing clients’ support that we have been able to survive this pandemic. We highly encourage everyone to continue supporting local. They love the community and we the community now have a big way to love them back!

Spring Home Show 2020

“I don’t even know where to begin.” These are the famous words of many people who are eager to begin their next home project, but can get intimidated by the long list of things they want to get accomplished. You know you want to remodel the bathroom, the kitchen, and maybe even do something about your landscaping. The problem is, you may not know who to call or where to look when it comes to someone to help you get the job done.

Well luckily, the cities of Chattanooga and Atlanta do something to help with that. Every spring and fall, both cities have a home show weekend to help people connect with local professionals to help get jobs done.

First up is Chattanooga. The spring home show is the last weekend of February at the Chattanooga Convention Center, with the cost being only $12 a day or $20 for a multi day pass. If you ask me, that is a small price to pay to connect with the best for your next home project. Atlanta’s is soon after being the weekend of the 20th-22nd of March.

A common denominator of both shows? Us, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of course. We will be there both weekends ready to meet you and be that help with your landscape lighting project. In Chattanooga, you can find us at booth P15, which is the first booth on your right when you walk in. You can’t miss us! We will have our amazing, professional lighting designers there, Joe Bozich and Tyler Short. They would love to meet you, answer any questions, and get a nighttime demonstration set up right there with you. What about our Atlanta people, though? No worries there because we will be there that weekend in March excited to meet you too.

We are thankful to partner with Home Builders Association for this incredible weekend to help serve our neighbors of Chattanooga and Atlanta. We look forward to seeing you and being the best help we can be!

The 13th annual Denim and Diamonds fundraiser took place Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Men and women from all around the community came to this event to enjoy delicious food, great music and celebrate healthcare and healing.

The attendees were encouraged to dress as their favorite literary character. This event helps support the Project Access community health partnership and other community health initiatives. It is put on by the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society and Medical Foundation of Chattanooga.

As always, we were very happy to be a supporter of Project Access. This organized group provides health care for those in Hamilton County who cannot get access to it as easily as others due to low-income. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Chattanooga has been a proud supporter of Project Access for four years now and graciously donated a $1,500 lighting package to be auctioned off at the live auction. The package consisted of up lights or path lights, a transformer, a timer, labor and parts. This event encouraged many around the community to participate in raising funds for this cause.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives offers outdoor lighting for both home and businesses. We provide lights for landscapes, gardens, decks, patios, pathways, pool areas and so much more. Landscape lighting ensures safety, security and beauty for your home and/or business. We offer free consultations, a design personalized just for your home, outstanding customer service and a warranty plan that is unmatched.

Home Show 2018

Joe at HomeshowLast weekend, the Home Builder’s Association of Greater Chattanooga hosted its 52nd Annual Tri-State Home Show at the Chattanooga Convention Center. There were close to 300 vendors and 500 booths in the exhibit hall. We were very happy to be a part of this show and loved the great turnout it had.

This year, we featured many of our products/services and discussed our company, what we do, the top quality products we, how they work and the warranty we provide. We really enjoyed getting to meet each person that took the time to stop by our booth. Our designers have a large passion for what they do and love to help those who are interested in outdoor lighting find just the right look.

As we showcased over the weekend, we offer complimentary nighttime demonstrations for those who want outdoor lighting but would prefer to see exactly how the lighting will illuminate their house before they spend a dime. By doing this, the customer gets a chance to tweak any lighting placement they want as well as decide if they need to add or subtract a light or two from the design. When the designer has set everything up just the way the customer likes it, they give the customer a proposal on the spot.

It was very fun to hear all the different reasons each person who stopped by our booth had for wanting outdoor lighting. From safety and security for their loved ones to accenting their garden beds and pool area. Thank you to all of you that stopped by and chatted with us.

If you didn’t get to see us at the home show and want to learn more about our outdoor lighting and what we have to offer, we are only a call or email away. Our number is 423-710-8645 and our email is chattanooga@outdoorlights.com. We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.

Take a look at our website to find the outdoor lighting that is right for you. Spring is the perfect time to get started on your garden area and/or deck lighting.

Due to your lighting being outdoors, they are prone to have to weather rain storms, power outages, and other likely causes that would create a reason for your system to stop working properly. No need to worry, however, because most of these issues are simple fixes that could potentially only take a few minutes to solve. As you know, we would be more than happy to come to your home and help fix your lighting for you. We are only a phone call away. We just wanted to take some time to let you in on a few quick steps you can take yourself before you have to make a service call.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives Installation

Step One:

It sounds silly but the first thing you need to check and make sure that your transformer is plugged in properly and securely. You would be surprised to know that sometimes the fix is as simple as a loose connection.

Step Two:

Check to be ensure that the controller/timer is plugged in nice and tight. If it happens to be unplugged, don’t worry. Once you plug it back in correctly, it should reset by itself. If it does not, call us and we will walk you through it or come out and get it set up accurately again.

Step Three:

Take a look inside your breaker box and make sure that there aren’t any tripped breakers.

Step Four:

If there isn’t a trip in your breaker box, check and make sure there aren’t any tripped breakers in your transformer.

Step Five:

Take a look at the outlet your transformer is plugged into. In the outlet there is what is called a Ground Fault Circuit Interupter (GFCI). This is made to sense any loss of current and to protect you from potential electrical shock. These types of outlets trip quite easily. To reset them, simply press the red reset button usually found between the two sockets. You can also test it by plugging in a different electrical device such as a cell phone charger to confirm the outlet works.

Step Six:

Be sure that your outlet is up to code. If the outlet is not, it may not be weather proof and could have accumulated water. This type of outlet needs to be replaced and updated.

Step Seven:

If your light or lights start to look dim to you or don’t shine quite as lustrous as they used to, check to make sure that mud or debris are not covering the lens or that pests have not chewed the wiring. You can gently clean this type of glass with any glass household cleaner.

Step Eight:

If you have been through each of these steps and your lights are still not working properly, we will be more than happy to come out to your home and inspect your lighting thoroughly to find the issue and get your lights back to normal. We are just a phone call away. (423)-710-8645.

The leaves are changing colors and the temperature is quickly dropping to our much loved sweater weather. Fall is finally here. Before we know it, some of our favorite holidays will be upon us. We all know, however, that with the change of the season comes the change in daylight hours. This means it will begin to get dark earlier in the day, causing your visibility to become decreased and your ability to see your walkway when you arrive home to be challenging. It also means there is a higher chance of you or one of your visitors slipping on those wet leaves or that black ice patch. That is Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Chattanooga recommend getting professionally installed path lights for your home.

Safety is a common concern when we are designing outdoor lighting for a home. We walk through the property and find the key areas that need illumination, such as  pathways and stairs, so that each step taken is visible and nothing goes unseen. This helps prevent trip hazards and slips. Many of our clients have tried to use solar lights bought from local hardware stores to solve these issues. They quickly learn, however, that not only do these types of lights have low quality lighting but they also do not last longer than a few seasons.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Chattanooga will only use the highest quality lighting to ensure that you will have your pathway lit up for years to come. We have a wide variety of path lights. They come in all different sizes and shapes to make certain that they will match the look and feel of your home. Due to the high quality of our outdoor lighting, you may only need a small number of light fixtures to get the job done, unlike solar lighting.

Attraction Lights pic 2We also offer sculpture lighting. They give off the same security and safety, but have more of a creative look to them. These lights add a great element of beauty and creativity to places like your pathway as well as gardens and patios. Like the pathway lighting, these also come in all different shape and sizes as well as unique shadowing.

Outdoor Lighting Charity

On Saturday May 20th, 2017 MDA hosted its seventh Annual Everyday Heroes Gala. The gala was an event supporting all the fallen heroes, as well as those who are currently battling ALS. The MDA Central Tennessee raises funds specifically for the local families living with muscle disease and provides and encourages a variety of ways for those families and others in the community to fight back together as a team. This community involvement brings greater awareness to those in need.

This year’s Everyday Heroes took place at the Chattanoogan. Everyone enjoyed a lovely night full of wine and beer, cocktails, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and photobooth fun all while bidding on the wonderful packages that were provided. All in all, the night was a great success and over $188,000 was raised for ALS research. Since its inception, the Everyday Heroes Gala has raised over $1 million dollars to go towards ALS research and MDA has raised over $344 million.

Mrs. Linehart of Signal Mountain was the prevailing bidder who went home with our outdoor lighting package for a steal of $900. The Linehart’s have been wanting to work with us on creating an outdoor lighting design for their house since December of 2015. They were very excited to finally pull the trigger. As for their lighting design, they are looking to install brass uplights across the front of their lovely home and highlight the cable above their front porch.

This was the first year Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Chattanooga participated in the event by donating an outdoor lighting package valued at $1500. The package included a lighting daytime consultation, 5 halogen up-lights, a transformer, labor, wire, a basic timer, and a lifetime warranty on all fixtures and the transformer.

If you are looking to get outdoor lighting and would like to set up a consultations with us, give us a call at 423-710-8645. We also offer free nighttime demonstrations to let you get a feel for what your lighting would look like without spending a penny.

Home maintenance can be tough to keep up with and an endless money pit.  Imagine the costs of painting your home, replacing siding, adding a stone walkway or simply hiring a landscaping company to freshen up your gardens.  The numbers add up quickly to thousands of dollars.

Let’s take a closer look at average costs associated with home improvements:

  • Bathroom remodel – $17,735
  • Minor Kitchen remodel – $18,500
  • Landscaping – $7500
  • Hardwood floors – $4500
  • Outdoor Lighting – $2500-3500

One upgrade many people skip over is outdoor lighting.  For as little as $2500 a homeowner can extend the curb appeal of their home well into the night.  Adding “up lights” to the architectural breaks of the home give the house depth, character and create a dramatic affect versus the dark homes in the neighborhood.  If you have already invested into landscaping such as trees and shrubs, why not display them in the evening when you and your neighbors are home to enjoy them?

Professional outdoor lighting can make a dramatic difference on the curb appeal and illumination of your home for surprisingly little investment when comparing to other household upgrades.

as the prevailing bidder who went home with this package for a steal of $850. He has already contacted Outdoor Lighting Perspectives and is excited to be getting outdoor lighting for his new home.

He envisions up lighting for the columns on his front porch, moon lighting for his beautiful trees in the front yard and path lighting for his winding sideway. All in all, the event was a huge success and a great fundraiser that Outdoor Lighting Perspectives was proud to be a part of.
